Law enforcement in Antigua and Barbuda are continuing investigations after detaining three men in connection with the unlawful possession of cannabis and suspected involvement in larceny. The arrests were made during a targeted operation carried out early last Saturday morning.
Around 5:40 a.m., officers from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) and the Task Force executed a search warrant at a residence located in Martin’s Village. The operation was part of ongoing efforts to crack down on illegal substances and property-related crimes in the area.
During the search, officers discovered and seized three air-conditioning units believed to be stolen, as well as a quantity of cannabis. Police believe the location may have been used not only for storing illegal drugs but also possibly for stashing stolen goods.
Following the raid, two individuals were taken into custody on suspicion of theft and illegal possession of cannabis. In addition to the seized items, authorities also impounded a motor vehicle from the premises. The suspects, along with the confiscated items, were transported to the St. John’s Police Station for further questioning and processing.
The police have not yet released the identities of the two men, as investigations are still ongoing and formal charges have not yet been laid. However, authorities say they are pursuing all leads and are working to verify the origin of the recovered air-conditioning units.
In a separate but related incident, a man from Lightfoot was also taken into custody by police in connection with another larceny case. During this investigation, law enforcement officials seized a vehicle believed to be tied to the alleged theft. That vehicle has since been transported to Police Headquarters, where it will remain pending further forensic and investigative analysis.
The police have emphasized that investigations into both incidents remain active, and more information may be made available to the public as the cases develop. Authorities are also urging members of the public to come forward with any relevant information that could aid in solving these cases.
The latest arrests highlight the continued efforts by local law enforcement to tackle not only drug-related crimes but also property offenses such as theft, which have been a concern in several communities.
Residents are encouraged to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities in their neighborhoods, as police maintain a zero-tolerance stance toward illegal activity involving both narcotics and stolen property.
