Schenectady dispensary launches business model to help CAURD licensees

SCHENECTADY, N.Y. (NEWS10)– A Schenectady woman-founded cannabis dispensary was the first to debut a new formal business model for cannabis retailers in the Capital Region on Thursday. Cannabicity, located in Mohawk Harbor, launched the brand, Powered By Cannabicity, as part of their grand opening ceremony for cannabis retail sales.

Cannabicity had its original grand opening in March 2024, but could only sell CBD products at the time. The shop now offers CBD and THC products.

The Powered by Cannabicity brand uses a New York law provision allowing retail cannabis license holders to sign partnership agreements with managed service providers. The program announced at the grand opening is only being offered by Cannabicity, and only for retail licensees to partner with Cannabicity.

In addition to the new business model, Cannabicity announced its first licensee partner, Coastal Green. The partnership will allow Coastal Green to open a store on Delaware Avenue in Albany, which is now being renovated and estimated to open this summer.

Cannabicity’s grand opening sales will continue through Sunday, March 9. Customers who stop by can win up to 50% off their total purchase when they spin the JackPOT Wheel at checkout.
