Police: 2 charged, accused of trafficking marijuana at VIP Smoke Shop in Newtown

Two Arrested in VIP Smoke Shop Raids for Marijuana Trafficking

Authorities have arrested two individuals following a series of raids on VIP Smoke Shops, marking a significant development in an ongoing investigation.

Last week, police executed a large-scale operation, raiding a warehouse and eight vape shops tied to VIP Smoke. Now, 29-year-old Abdallah Jera, the owner of one of the stores, and 30-year-old Leon Abu Zayd, an employee, are facing felony charges. Jera is accused of marijuana trafficking, while Abu Zayd faces similar charges along with allegations of selling tobacco products to individuals under 21.

New Town’s police chief has indicated that additional charges may be forthcoming as the investigation continues. The crackdown underscores law enforcement’s focus on illegal cannabis distribution and underage sales in the region.
