ONTARIO — An Ontario recreational marijuana retailer, Cannabis and Glass, is among 37 that is listed as a retailer that may have sold edible cookies with undeclared allergens sold from November of 2023 to March of this year. The Oregon Liquor and Cannabis Commission, which has oversight of those stores, has issued product recalls for the edible cookies sold under the name Lissa's Fresh Baked Cookie Bites, according to a news release issued march 28 by the OLCC.

The packaging does not list the allergen milk (specifically, butter) in the "contains" statement on the snickerdoodle and chocolate chip versions of the cookies.

The news release states that the problem was first identified by the Oregon Department of Agriculture Food Safety Program. This was during a routine inspection of a marijuana retailer.

"The edibles may have been sold by up to 37 different recreational marijuana retailers to consumers in the state from approximately November 2023 to March 2025," reads the release.

The OLCC is utilizing the state’s Cannabis Tracking System to identify affected inventory and issue notices to retailers and other licensees to halt further distribution and sale.

"The product poses a risk to public health and safety and should not be sold or consumed," reads the information.

This is not the first time that the OLCC has issued a recall for edible products containing butter that do not have it listed. In January, the state agency recalled a rice cereal treat named Elitextrx 1:1 for the same reason. Those had been sold by up to 19 different retailers, but none in the Ontario area were listed.

In the past several years, there have been recalls for edibles and other products for a variety of reasons, including mold and pesticides.

In 2024, there were recalls for Gary Payton flower for failing audit testing for the pesticide Imidacloprid; and Beaucoup Gummies for "not meeting internal product specifications"; Quality Drugs assorted fruit chews for incorrectly listing milk allergens.

In 2023, recalls included such issues as tinctures and edibles listing the incorrect potency data; flower testing positive for arsenic; pre-rolls testing positive for aspergillus (mold) and heavy metals (cadmium and mercury); vapes for non-child resistant packaging, pesticide contamination and prohibited additives and extracts for "unusual concentration of delta-8-THC.
