Cannabis worth £4.5m found during anti-gang raids

Cannabis worth more than £4.5m has been seized and 10 people arrested during a series of raids.

Norfolk Police said nine warrants were carried out to disrupt criminal networks involved in drug dealing, money laundering and violent offences.

Dried cannabis weighing 154kg (24st 4lb) and 1,757 plants with an estimated street value of £4m were found in one raid at an industrial unit at Great Ellingham, near Attleborough.

Operations were also carried out in Norwich, Great Yarmouth, Wisbech, King's Lynn and Rushall between the end of January and the end of February..

Det Supt Matt Barden said the operation had prevented a "huge amount of drugs" from entering the supply chain and disrupted organised criminal groups.

"Large scale cannabis production generates significant money, which organised crime groups can use to fund other illegal activity," he said.

Eight people had since been charged and remanded in custody, police added.
