A majority of cannabis users in Ohio plan to buy recreational marijuana legally, even if it’s more expensive than the black market, according to a new poll.
Sixty-six percent of Ohio cannabis users surveyed said they buy in the legal market, regardless of price, while 10% of those surveyed said they still buy in the black market if it was cheaper.
This is from a new poll by telehealth platform NuggMD that surveyed 221 cannabis users in Ohio about Issue 2, which would legalize recreational marijuana to Ohioans 21 and older. Issue 2 would also legalize home grow for Ohioans 21 and up with a limit of six plants per person and 12 plants per residence, and impose a 10% tax at the point of sale for each transaction.
The NuggMD survey was conducted at the end of October and has a 5% margin of error.
Of those surveyed, 186 have an active medical marijuana registration and recommendations and about a quarter of them said they probably wouldn’t renew their recommendation for medical marijuana.
A July Suffolk University/USA Today poll shows 59% of Ohio voters support Ohioans 21 and older buying and possessing marijuana. It showed 77% of Democrats, 63% of independents and 40% of Republicans support the issue.
The Suffolk University/USA Today poll surveyed 500 registered Ohio voters over the phone and their margin of error is +/- 4.4 percentage points.
